Geology around Wadhurst
Wadhurst is in the High Weald on Hastings Beds (predominantly Wadhurst Clay — the formation is named for the town). Sandstone aquifers at depth provide good water-supply potential, but drilling typically goes through 60-100m of clay first. Iron treatment is commonly required. Closed-loop GSHP is the standard for heating projects in the area.
Wider East Sussex context: East Sussex geology is dominated by the chalk South Downs in the south and the Wealden Clay and Hastings Beds in the High Weald. The Lewes and Ringmer area (our most active zone) sits at the chalk/clay boundary where conditions can change over short distances. The High Weald around Uckfield, Crowborough and Wadhurst requires deeper drilling through clay into underlying sandstone.
