Who we are

Cookies on this site

We use cookies and similar technologies to make this site work, understand how it's used, and (with your permission) measure advertising performance. The categories below match the choice you make in the cookie banner.

Strictly necessary (always on)

Required for the site to work. Don't need consent under PECR.

  • Session / security cookies — set by Vercel (our hosting provider) to deliver the page reliably and protect against attacks. First-party. Expire when you close the browser, or after a short security window.
  • Cookie preferences (nw_consent) — stores the choice you make in the cookie banner so we don't ask again on every visit. First-party,localStorage (not technically a cookie). Cleared when you choose “Cookie preferences” in the footer and re-select.
  • BUS grant banner dismissal (nw_bus_banner_dismissed) — remembers if you dismissed the orange BUS grant banner so it doesn't re-appear for 30 days. First-party, localStorage.

Analytics (consent required)

Helps us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Aggregated, no advertising use, no cross-site identification.

  • Vercel Analytics — page-view counts and referrer info. First-party. No personal data shared with third parties. Vercel's analytics privacy notice.
  • Vercel Speed Insights — anonymous Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) so we can measure and improve page performance. First-party.

Marketing (consent required)

Lets us measure ad performance and show relevant ads to people who've visited the site. Provided by Google.

  • Google Ads (gtag.js) — conversion tracking and remarketing. Sets third-party cookies on doubleclick.net and google.com. We use Google's Consent Mode v2 so these cookies aren't set unless you grant marketing consent. Google's privacy policy.

Changing your preferences

You can change your cookie preferences any time by clicking “Cookie preferences” in the footer. Browser-level cookie deletion also works — clearing site data for nichollswater.co.uk will reset your choice and re-prompt on your next visit.

What other personal data we collect

We collect personal data through three channels:

  • Contact form submissions — name, email address, phone number, message body, and (where you choose) sector / service-type tags. Submissions are routed via our internal project-management platform (Monday.com) to the right division. Lawful basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — handling an enquiry you've initiated — or, if you become a customer, performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).
  • GSHP / Waterwell calculator forms — postcode area, property details and a callback name, email and phone if you choose to submit. Lawful basis as above.
  • Form attribution data — UTM parameters from referring URLs (for example, how you reached us from a Google Ads campaign), recorded against the form submission for marketing-attribution reporting. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.

We retain enquiry data for 3 years from last contact, or for the duration of any contract plus 6 years for tax and accounting purposes, whichever is longer.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and the right to object to or restrict processing. Email enquiries@nichollswater.co.uk to make a request — we'll respond within one calendar month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Data we share

We share personal data only with the third-party services that help us run our website and handle enquiries. All have appropriate data-processing agreements in place.

  • Monday.com (enquiry routing) — your contact form data is sent to our internal Monday.com workspace so the right person sees your enquiry. Data is stored on Monday's US infrastructure under Standard Contractual Clauses / UK addendum.
  • Google Ads (conversion measurement) — if you've granted marketing consent, anonymised conversion data is sent to Google for ad-performance reporting. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
  • Vercel (hosting) — our website is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure. Server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) are processed for delivery and security. Vercel operates under Standard Contractual Clauses.

We do not sell personal data to anyone, ever.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when we add or remove tracking, change data processors, or when guidance from the ICO changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent material change.
