Specialist Borehole Services
Diagnostic, rehabilitation, replacement and compliance services across the borehole portfolio. Sold standalone — for systems we installed and for systems installed by others.
Beyond drilling new boreholes and ground-source systems, our in-house borehole technical team delivers a range of standalone specialist services. These cover the diagnostic, rehabilitation and compliance work that keeps existing systems performing — and the testing and inspection work that supports new design, planning submissions and pre-acquisition due diligence.
We work on systems we installed originally and on systems installed by others. All services are delivered by our employed technical team using our own plant — not subcontracted.
Our specialist services
Each service is sold standalone with a fixed scope and a written quotation. Many are commonly combined — for example a camera survey before a Boresave treatment, or pump replacement alongside a survey.
Boresave — borehole rehabilitation treatment
Chemical rehabilitation to restore yield and water quality on existing boreholes affected by iron-bacteria fouling, biofouling or chemical scale.
Targeted chemical injection, controlled soak, full pump-out and disinfection. Restores yield and recovers water quality on boreholes whose performance has dropped over time — often extending borehole life by years and avoiding the cost of redrilling.
When you might need it
Yield has dropped meaningfully · water quality has changed · routine maintenance pre-empting decline
Downhole camera surveys
High-resolution video inspection inside an existing borehole using a downhole camera.
Lightweight rig and camera lowered through the borehole to record full-depth video of the casing, screen and surrounding formation. Output is a video file plus a written report identifying any structural issues, biofouling, blockages or screen damage.
When you might need it
Diagnosing declining yield · pre-rehabilitation assessment · pre-purchase due diligence · insurance / regulatory evidence · post-incident inspection
Borehole pump & riser replacement
Pull and replace worn or failed borehole pumps and riser pipework.
Mobilise lifting plant, pull the pump and riser column to surface, replace worn components, re-deploy and re-commission. Typically combined with a downhole camera survey to verify underlying borehole condition before re-installing.
When you might need it
Pump motor drawing high amperage · supply pressure dropping · scheduled end-of-life replacement · riser pipework corrosion
Soakaway servicing — air lifting (stormwater only)
Air-lift cleaning of stormwater soakaways to restore drainage capacity. Stormwater systems only — not foul or contaminated drainage.
Compressed air injected at depth to displace silt, fines and biological build-up that have accumulated and reduced the soakaway's infiltration rate. Restores design capacity without excavation or replacement.
When you might need it
Stormwater backing up · slower drainage performance · scheduled preventative maintenance · pre-winter capacity check
Soakaway testing — falling-head infiltration
Falling-head infiltration tests to determine soakaway capacity for design purposes or to verify ongoing performance.
BRE 365 methodology where applicable: pre-soaked test pit, water added to a measured depth, fall in water level recorded over time. Output is a written test report giving the soil infiltration rate and the soakaway sizing implications. Required for many planning and building-control submissions.
When you might need it
Planning application support · building-control submission · pre-design assessment for new soakaway · performance verification on existing systems
Filtration system surveys & reports
Physical inspection and performance assessment of existing water-treatment and filtration systems.
On-site inspection of filtration plant, water-quality sampling, review of media life, system sizing and pressure-drop characteristics. Output is a written report with recommended actions and supplier-neutral specifications.
When you might need it
Underperforming treatment · routine compliance review · Private Water Supplies Regulations review · pre-acquisition due diligence
GSHP specialist services
We deliver a range of GSHP-specific specialist services alongside the borehole work above — system commissioning audits, header-manifold rework, ground-loop pressure testing, heat-pump performance optimisation and similar. The detailed list will appear here shortly. In the meantime, get in touch and we'll advise on what fits your situation.
