Water Boreholes & Ground Source Heat Pumps in Hertfordshire

Over 28 projects completed across Hertfordshire. Free site assessments and no-obligation estimates.

Hertfordshire is a developing area for Nicholls with 28 completed projects. The county benefits from productive chalk aquifer in the Chilterns area and good ground conditions for GSHP installations. We have particular experience around Kings Langley, Chorleywood, Harpenden and across the Chilterns belt.

Local geology in Hertfordshire

🧭

Hertfordshire sits largely on chalk aquifer, particularly in the western Chilterns area, providing excellent conditions for both water boreholes and ground source heat pumps. The Kings Langley and Chorleywood area has good chalk at moderate depth. Moving east, London Clay becomes more prevalent. GSHP installations are our most common work type in Hertfordshire — the chalk provides excellent thermal conductivity for closed-loop systems.

Every site is different. A desk-based geological assessment is always the starting point for any project.
