Water Boreholes & Ground Source Heat Pumps in Cambridgeshire

Over 11 projects completed across Cambridgeshire. Free site assessments and no-obligation estimates.

Cambridgeshire sits over one of England's most productive chalk aquifers, making it excellent water-supply country. We've completed 11 projects across the county — from the Cambridge city ring through to the surrounding villages and farms. The CB postcode area sees regular borehole work for both residential and university-research applications.

Local geology in Cambridgeshire

🧭

Most of Cambridgeshire sits on the Cretaceous chalk — the Grey Chalk Subgroup and White Chalk Subgroup are both productive water-bearing units, and BGS classifies the chalk here as 'Highly productive aquifer'. Water boreholes in the area typically reach productive water between 40m and 100m depth. The northern Fens transition into the Kimmeridge Clay and Ampthill Clay, where deeper drilling is needed to reach the same aquifer.

Every site is different. A desk-based geological assessment is always the starting point for any project.
