Water Boreholes & Ground Source Heat Pumps in Suffolk

Over 8 projects completed across Suffolk. Free site assessments and no-obligation estimates.

Suffolk is a strong area for residential water boreholes — the county's mix of chalk, crag and clay-with-flints geology offers good aquifer potential across most of its area, particularly around the productive chalk strip running through the central and western parts. We work regularly around Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Aldeburgh, Halesworth and across rural Suffolk.

Local geology in Suffolk

🧭

Suffolk geology splits broadly between the Chalk aquifer in the west (Bury St Edmunds, Mildenhall, Haverhill, Newmarket — productive groundwater at moderate depth) and the East Anglian Crag in the east (Lowestoft, Aldeburgh, Southwold — still drillable but with more variable yields and water quality). Boulder Clay across central Suffolk requires deeper drilling through the till to the underlying chalk in many cases. The coastal towns benefit from local sand-and-gravel formations but require careful saline-intrusion assessment near the shoreline.

Every site is different. A desk-based geological assessment is always the starting point for any project.
