Water Boreholes & Ground Source Heat Pumps in Wiltshire

Over 12 projects completed across Wiltshire. Free site assessments and no-obligation estimates.

Wiltshire is an expanding area for Nicholls with 12 completed projects, predominantly ground source heat pump installations. The county's chalk downland and greensand formations offer good conditions for both water supply and renewable heating. We have experience around Salisbury, Chippenham, Devizes and across the Wiltshire Downs.

Local geology in Wiltshire

🧭

Wiltshire is dominated by chalk — Salisbury Plain and the Marlborough Downs provide one of the largest chalk aquifer areas in England. Boreholes in the chalk typically reach productive water at 30-60m. The greensand formations around Devizes and Warminster also offer good aquifer potential. The majority of our Wiltshire work has been GSHP installations, reflecting the county's high proportion of off-gas-grid rural properties.

Every site is different. A desk-based geological assessment is always the starting point for any project.
