Overview
Nicholls were engaged to create a secure, independent water supply for a private residential property in Greater London, reducing reliance on mains water and bringing down running costs.
About the project
The property now has its own dependable source of water, drawn from beneath the driveway and available whenever it is needed. This reduces reliance on the mains, lowers water bills and gives the household a resilient supply that supports day-to-day continuity.
Nicholls drilled a single production borehole to 92 m into the Chalk, then installed steel casing and screen to line and protect it. The wellhead sits recessed into the driveway, so the surface stays clear and the installation blends into the property. A variable speed pump delivers water smoothly and efficiently, while a neat kiosk houses a mini control panel, pressure transducer and pressure vessel to keep pressure steady at every tap.
The result is a discreet, low-profile installation that supplies water reliably, and Nicholls' ongoing servicing and maintenance support will keep it performing well for years to come.
Lover of of botanical environments: an irrigation system was due to be installed for the garden and a waterwell would serve as an ideal accompaniment. However, access to the garden is problematic and space an issue. Nicholls resolved this with a recessed waterwell on the driveway and hidden kiosk for the ancillaries in the bin store. The constant pressure pump includes a bluetooth connection to the control panel which provides an overview of the system - super helpful for providing data.
