Ashstead
Irrigation Waterwell
1 x 70m
Recessed Wellhead
8" steel casing with 125mm UPVC liner
Overview
Nicholls were engaged to provide a private homeowner in Ashstead with an independent on-site water supply for irrigating their garden, free from reliance on the mains.
About the project
The client now has their own source of water on site, with up to 20m³ a day available for irrigation. The garden can be watered whenever it needs it, and the supply is not affected by hosepipe bans, so the grounds stay green through the driest spells. It also brings independence from the mains, with the reassurance of a dependable supply of their own.
Nicholls drilled a single irrigation waterwell to 70 m into the Chalk. The well is lined with 8" steel casing and a 125 mm UPVC liner, giving a robust, long-lasting structure. Nicholls worked closely with the client throughout, so the works suited the property and the way the household uses its garden.
The result is a simple, dependable water supply that is ready whenever the garden needs it, and Nicholls' ongoing servicing and maintenance support will keep the waterwell performing well for years to come.
The waterwell proved tricky with unexpected sand bank in the chalk geology which ingressed into the liner, Nicholls Boreholes continued developing the well to a successful completion.
